Clown Coris Wrasse (Coris gaimard) is a dramatic and highly rewarding species for serious marine enthusiasts. It starts life as vivid orange-red with large white saddle patches outlined in black, then transforms into adults that sport green, blue, yellow, and pink tones—with striking blue spots, a yellow tail, and bold facial markings in males. It grows up to about 16-inches. Best kept in aquariums of 125 gallons or more, with a deep fine sand bed for burrowing and resting, plenty of live rock for hiding and grazing, open swimming space, and a secure lid since this wrasse is an active jumper. Diet must be rich and varied: carnivorous fare—crustaceans, mollusks, frozen mysis and brine shrimp, plus high-quality pellets.
