The Junda Lin’s Peppermint Shrimp (Lysmata jundalini) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its striking red-and-white banded coloration, delicate antennae, and small but active presence. Males typically appear slightly slimmer with shorter abdomens, while females/juveniles are fuller-bodied and often display a visible saddle or eggs when breeding.
They reach about 2 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 10 gallons. Provide live rock with plenty of crevices and hiding spots, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and ensure a secure lid since shrimp can occasionally climb or jump.
Their diet should consist of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, finely chopped meaty foods, and high-quality pellets, though they may also scavenge leftover food and graze on detritus. With proper care, this shrimp makes a standout addition to the aquarium, both as a functional cleaner and a vibrant ornamental species.
