Interruptus Angelfish (Centropyge interruptus) is one of the most dazzling and sought-after dwarf angelfish in the marine aquarium hobby, prized for both its rarity and breathtaking coloration. Native to the waters around Japan, this species features a brilliant orange body scattered with vivid blue spots, accented by deep blue edging on the fins and subtle purple highlights that shimmer under reef lighting. Growing to about 6 inches, it requires an aquarium of at least 70 gallons, with ample live rock for grazing, caves for hiding, and stable reef water conditions. While considered reef-safe with caution (like most dwarf angelfish), many aquarists have successfully kept them with corals, particularly in well-fed and spacious systems. Peaceful to semi-aggressive, the Interruptus Angelfish does well with other non-aggressive tankmates, but care should be taken when housing it with other dwarf angels. Its diet should include a variety of spirulina, marine algae, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and high-quality angelfish preparations to maintain its health and vivid coloration.
