Imperator Angelfish, Juvenile

Imperator Angelfish, Orangetail Juvenile (Pomacanthus imperator). It is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking coloration, bold horizontal stripes, orange tail highlight, and graceful swimming patterns.

Males typically retain the iconic bright blue and yellow adult coloration with vivid horizontal bands and an orange tail, while females/juveniles display the dramatic dark blue body with electric-blue and white circular patterns, accented by the distinct orange tail in this variant.

They reach about 15 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 220 gallons. Provide ample live rock for grazing and hiding, a stable sandbed, and open swimming space, along with a secure lid since many angelfish are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of a varied mix of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish pellets, sponges, and occasional fresh greens like nori. With proper care, this fish makes a standout showpiece addition to a large, well-maintained aquarium.
