Imperator Angelfish, Adult

The Imperator Angelfish, Adult (Pomacanthus imperator) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking coloration, bold vertical stripes, and majestic adult appearance. Males typically display vibrant blue and yellow horizontal bands with a dark mask across the eyes, while females/juveniles show concentric blue-and-white rings that transform dramatically as they mature.

They reach about 15 inches and should be housed in aquariums of at least 220 gallons. Provide ample live rock for grazing and hiding, a mature aquascape with caves, and open swimming space, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since many species are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of a varied mix of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, marine algae, high-quality angelfish pellets, and sponge-based foods, and with proper care this fish makes a standout addition to the aquarium.
