Humu Rectangle Triggerfish

Humu Rectangle Triggerfish (Rhinecanthus rectangulus), which is a semi-aggressive species that is not reef-safe, admired for its vivid coloration, distinctive rectangular body shape, striking patterns, and medium size.

Males typically display more intense coloration and are territorial, while females/juveniles have slightly muted colors and are less aggressive. They reach about 12 inches and should be housed in aquariums of at least 180 gallons. Provide a sandbed, plenty of live rock for hiding, and open swimming space, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since many triggerfish are prone to jumping. Diet should consist of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, chopped seafood, and high-quality pellets, and with proper care, this fish makes a striking and dynamic addition to a marine aquarium.
