Henderson's Hinge Beak Shrimp

The Henderson's Hinge Beak Shrimp (Cinetorhynchus hendersoni) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking reddish-brown coloration with pale banding, long beak-like rostrum, and unique nocturnal behavior. Males typically display slightly larger chelae (claws) and more territorial behavior, while females/juveniles are smaller and less aggressive.

They reach about 2–2.5 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 20 gallons. Provide ample live rock with caves and hiding spots, as they are nocturnal and secretive during the day, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since many shrimp are prone to climbing or escaping.

Diet should consist of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, pellets, and occasional meaty frozen foods. With proper care, this shrimp makes a unique and eye-catching addition to aquariums, especially for hobbyists who enjoy observing fascinating nocturnal invertebrate behavior.
