Unless marked, all livestock comes with our 15-Day Guarantee. You will receive a video of your fish eating before shipment. For size preference please add a note on your order and we will match your fish to your requested size. Species/Animal: (Invertebrates) Heart Urchin (Anametlia sp.)
The Heart Urchin is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its unique burrowing behavior, heart-shaped body, and distinct cross-patterned markings.
Males typically do not show significant differences from females, as these invertebrates are not sexually dimorphic, while females/juveniles resemble adults but may be smaller and lighter in coloration.
They reach about 3–5 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons, with a deep sandbed (3–4 inches) for burrowing, some live rock for natural habitat balance, and ample open substrate space.

A secure lid is not necessary since Heart Urchins do not jump, but fine substrate is important for them to sift through and feed naturally.
Diet: Heart Urchins are deposit feeders, meaning they consume detritus, microalgae, bacteria, and organic matter filtered from the sand. Supplemental feeding with fine powdered foods, phytoplankton, and marine snow may help in aquariums with low natural food availability.
With proper care, this invertebrate makes a fascinating and unique addition to the aquarium, best suited for peaceful reef or sand-focused tanks.

On request, we also send photos/videos after arrival at IA. Some species are import-to-order (3-10 business days). Many common species are already cleared or near the end of QT.
Several species will be import-to-order and may take anywhere from 3-10 business days to secure. Once your fish is secured, you will be notified, and the quarantine process will then begin.
