Hardwicke Wrasse

Hardwicke Wrasse (Thalassoma hardwicke) is a fast-moving, vibrantly colored wrasse that thrives in large, active aquariums. Juveniles typically show a pale body with dark vertical bars, while adults mature into dazzling blends of green, blue, and turquoise with bold facial markings and striping across the body. This hardy wrasse reaches up to 7 inches in adult size and requires an aquarium of at least 125 gallons, with plenty of open swimming space, rocky shelters, and sandy bottom areas. A secure lid is essential, as they are powerful jumpers. While striking, they are semi-aggressive and better suited for robust FOWLR or predator setups, as they may prey on small invertebrates and are not ideal for delicate reef systems. Their diet should be protein-rich, including mysis, brine shrimp, krill, clams, chopped seafood, and high-quality marine pellets or frozen blends to support their constant activity and coloration.
