Halfbarred Goby

The Halfbarred Goby (Priolepis semidoliata) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its delicate translucent body marked with distinctive half-barred patterns along the sides, small size, and subtle, graceful movements. Males typically exhibit slightly more pronounced coloration and slightly larger fins, while females and juveniles tend to be paler with less defined markings. They reach about 1.5 to 2 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 20 gallons.

Provide a fine sandbed, abundant live rock with plenty of crevices and hiding spots, and moderate open swimming space, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temp ~72-79°F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and a secure lid since many gobies are prone to jumping. Diet should consist of small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and finely crushed pellets or flakes. With proper care, this fish makes a standout addition to the aquarium, contributing delicate beauty and peaceful behavior to reef environments.
