Gulf Blenny, Juvenile

The Gulf Blenny, Juvenile, QM Labs (Ecsenius pulcher) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its vibrant coloration, playful personality, algae-grazing behavior, and compact size. Males typically display brighter coloration and may show more territorial posturing, while females/juveniles tend to be smaller with subtler markings. They reach about 4 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons.

Provide ample live rock for grazing and hiding spots, along with a sandbed for natural behavior and open swimming areas. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temp ~72-79 °F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and ensure a secure lid since blennies are known jumpers. Diet should consist of algae, spirulina, mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality pellets formulated for herbivores. With proper care, this fish makes a standout addition to reef aquariums, both as an algae controller and a lively personality.
