Griffis Angelfish

Griffis Angelfish (Apolemichthys griffisi) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its distinctive black-and-white vertical banding, elongated body shape, and rarity in the aquarium trade. Males typically display slightly larger size and more vivid band contrast, while females/juveniles show softer coloration with less defined markings. They reach about 10 inches and should be housed in aquariums of at least 180 gallons. Provide ample live rock with caves and hiding spots, as well as open swimming space, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since many species are prone to jumping. Diet should consist of a varied mix of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, high-quality marine angelfish pellets, and marine algae. With proper care, this fish makes a standout addition to the aquarium, especially for advanced hobbyists seeking a rare centerpiece angelfish.
