Flaming Prawn Goby

The Flaminf Prawn Goby (Discordipinna griessingeri) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its striking orange body with distinctive dark vertical stripes, small size, and unique elongated fins that give it a delicate appearance. Males typically have slightly brighter coloration and more elongated fins, while females and juveniles tend to be a bit paler with shorter fins. They reach about 1.5 to 2 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 20 gallons.

Provide plenty of live rock with ample hiding spots and crevices, a fine sandbed, and moderate open swimming space, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temp ~72-79°F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and a secure lid since many gobies can be jumpers. Diet should consist of small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and finely crushed pellets or flakes. With proper care, this fish makes a standout addition to the aquarium, offering vibrant color and fascinating behavior to reef setups.
