A Fish Green Moray Eel (Gymnothorax funebris) is an aggressive species that is not reef-safe, admired for its vivid green coloration, massive size, serpentine body, and striking predatory behavior.
Males typically display robust musculature and strong jaws, while females/juveniles tend to have slightly more slender builds but share the same color and features. They reach about 72 inches (6 feet) in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 300 gallons.
Provide ample live rock, large hiding spots/caves, and secure spaces, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a tightly sealed lid since this species is capable of escaping tanks.
Diet should consist of meaty foods such as squid, fish, shrimp, and other marine flesh (offered fresh or frozen), and with proper care this eel makes a dramatic and commanding showpiece in large predator aquariums.
