Green Feather Sea Star

The Green Feather Sea Star (Himerometra sp.) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its vibrant green coloration, feathery arms, and graceful movement.

Males typically exhibit slightly slimmer arms and more active feeding behavior, while females and juveniles are smaller and may display slightly duller coloration. They reach about 4–6 inches in diameter and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons. Provide a setup with a deep sandbed, plenty of live rock for attachment, hiding spots, and open swimming space, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4) and a secure lid, since many species are prone to climbing or jumping.

Diet should consist of copepods, mysis shrimp, microalgae, and other small planktonic foods, and with proper care, this species makes a captivating and standout addition to a reef aquarium.
