Green Coris Wrasse (Halichoeres chloropterus) is a show-stopping wrasse that brings bold color, character, and action to any established marine tank. It features a soft pastel green body that deepens towards the head with flashes of yellow on the tail; juveniles are more subtle but still beautiful, and adults develop richer tones and stronger presence. This species is reef-safe with caution—it’s great with corals and clams but will eat small crustaceans, fan worms, or decorative shrimp if given the chance. It reaches about 7-8 inches in mature size. Best kept in tanks of at least 75 gallons with a deep fine sandy substrate (2-3 in.) for burying at night, plenty of live rock for hiding and grazing, stable water parameters, and a tight lid since this wrasse is known to jump. Diet should be heavily carnivorous: live or frozen mysis/brine shrimp, chopped seafood, copepods, plus top-quality pellets.
