Gray Angelfish

The Gray Angelfish (Pomacanthus arcuatus) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking silver-gray coloration, subtle vertical striping, impressive adult size, and graceful swimming behavior. Males typically develop a more robust body with slightly elongated dorsal and anal fins, while females/juveniles display darker, near-black bodies with bright yellow margins around the fins before transitioning into adult coloration.

They reach about 20 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 220 gallons. Provide ample live rock for grazing, hiding spots, and plenty of open swimming space, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since many species are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of a varied mix of marine algae, spirulina, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, high-quality angelfish pellets, sponges, and enriched frozen foods. With proper care, this fish makes a majestic and standout centerpiece in the aquarium.
