Granulated Sea Star

Granulated Sea Star (Choriaster granulatus), a peaceful species that is generally reef-safe, admired for its unique granulated texture, thick arms, and striking pale pink to reddish coloration.

Males and females are visually similar, with juveniles being smaller and more delicate in appearance. They reach about 10–12 inches in diameter and should be housed in aquariums of at least 50 gallons. Provide a deep sandbed for burrowing, scattered live rock for grazing, and open swimming space for movement, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4) and a secure lid, as many starfish can attempt to climb or move across tank edges.

Diet should consist of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and other small invertebrates, and with proper care, this sea star makes a captivating and low-maintenance addition to the aquarium.

Several species will be import-to-order and may take anywhere from 3-10 business days to secure. Once your fish is secured, you will be notified, and the quarantine process will then begin.
