Gold Nugget Maroon Clownfish

The Gold Nugget Maroon Clownfish (Amphiprion biaculeatus) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its brilliant golden coloration, deep maroon markings, bold personality, and striking pattern contrast. Males typically remain smaller and less dominant, while females/juveniles are larger, more robust, and often more territorial.

They reach about 6 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30–40 gallons (larger is better, especially for pairs). Provide ample live rock for shelter and territories, open swimming space, and a sandbed if desired, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4). A secure lid is recommended since clownfish can occasionally jump.

Diet should consist of a varied mix of frozen mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality pellets, and occasional algae-based foods. With proper care, this fish makes a standout showpiece in the aquarium due to its unique coloration and lively behavior.
