Gold Browed Dottyback

My species/animal is a fish, the Gold Browed Dottyback (Pictichromis aurifrons). It is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe, admired for its vibrant purple body, striking golden-yellow forehead and snout, compact size, and bold personality.

Males typically may exhibit slightly more vivid coloration and territorial behavior, while females/juveniles tend to be a bit smaller and less intense in coloration. They reach about 2.5 to 3 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 20 gallons.

Provide ample live rock with hiding spots, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temp ~72-79°F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and a secure lid since many species are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality pellets or frozen foods, and with proper care this fish makes a standout addition to the aquarium.
