Girdled Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus balteatus) is a reef-safe species with a peaceful temperament, prized for its vibrant color variation and graceful movements. Males display a mix of purple, pink, and greenish-yellow hues with a distinctive girdle-like band behind the head and white belly; females and juveniles are more muted with reddish-pink tones and a white underside. It grows to about 4 inches in length. Best kept in tanks of at least 75 gallons with fine sand substrate, plenty of live rock for hiding and grazing, open swimming space, stable water parameters, and a tight lid since it is known to jump. Its diet should include live or frozen meaty foods like mysis and brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality pellets once feeding reliably.
