French Angelfish, Juv

The French Angelfish, Sub-Adult (Pomacanthus paru) is a semi-aggressive species that is considered reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking coloration, bold patterns, and impressive size. Males typically display deep, dark bodies accented with bright yellow scale edges and a bold facial mask, while females and juveniles are more muted, often with distinct vertical yellow bands that fade as they mature. This angelfish can reach an adult size of around 15 inches, so it should be housed in aquariums of at least 180 gallons to allow for proper swimming space and long-term health. The tank should include ample live rock for grazing, a sandbed, hiding spots, and open swimming areas to meet its active nature and natural behavior. Stable water parameters are essential, with salinity maintained between 1.020–1.025, temperature around 72–79°F, and pH between 8.1–8.4. A secure lid is highly recommended since angelfish can be prone to jumping. Their diet should consist of a variety of foods, including mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, spirulina, marine algae, and high-quality pellets formulated for angelfish, ensuring balanced nutrition and vibrant coloration. With proper care and environment, the French Angelfish becomes a truly standout centerpiece in any large marine aquarium.
