Fourline Combtooth Blenny

The Fourline Combtooth Blenny (Ecsenius aequalis) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its striking four-line pattern, vibrant coloration, small size, and unique combtooth dentition. Males typically display brighter coloration and more pronounced lines along the body, especially during territorial or mating displays, while females/juveniles have subtler coloration and less defined lines.

They reach about 1.7 inches (4.3 cm) and should be housed in aquariums of at least 20 gallons. Provide live rock, plenty of hiding spots, a sandbed, and open swimming space to mimic their natural reef habitat, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since many blennies are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of algae, copepods, mysis shrimp, and high-quality marine pellets, and with proper care, this fish makes a standout addition to the aquarium.
