Footballer Chromis

Footballer Chromis (Chrysiptera annulata) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe, admired for its distinctive black-and-white vertical bands, hardy nature, and active swimming behavior.

Males typically display slightly brighter coloration and may show more territorial behavior, while females/juveniles are smaller, with less pronounced body depth and sometimes duller hues.

They reach about 3–4 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons (larger if kept in groups to reduce aggression).

Provide ample live rock for hiding spots and open swimming space, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since they may jump when startled.

Diet should consist of a varied mix of frozen mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality marine pellets, and occasional algae-based foods.

With proper care, this fish makes a hardy, active, and visually striking addition to reef and community aquariums.
