The Flame Angelfish (Centropyge loriculus), is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its vibrant orange-red coloration, striking vertical black bars, and compact size. Males typically display more intense coloration and elongated dorsal fins, while females and juveniles tend to have slightly subdued colors and shorter fins. They reach about 4 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons. Their environment should include a sandbed, plenty of live rock, hiding spots, and open swimming areas, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4) and a secure lid, as Flame Angelfish are known to jump. Their diet should consist of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality pellets, and algae. With proper care, this vibrant fish becomes a striking centerpiece in any reef or marine aquarium.
