The Blood Red Fire Shrimp (Lysmata debelius) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its striking bright red coloration with white spots, slender body, and graceful movements. Males typically display slightly more vivid coloration, while females and juveniles share similar patterns but are smaller and less intense in color. They reach about 2–3 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 20 gallons. Providing a sandbed, live rock, ample hiding spots, and open swimming space is essential for their well-being. Stable water parameters—including salinity around 1.020–1.025, temperature between 72–79°F, and pH 8.1–8.4—are crucial, along with a secure lid as they are prone to jumping. Their diet can consist of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality pellets or algae. With proper care, the Blood Red Fire Shrimp makes a vibrant and standout addition to any marine aquarium.
