Filamented Sand Diver Eel Blenny (Trichonotus setiger) — a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its elongated body, delicate filamented dorsal fin extensions, burrowing behavior, and graceful swimming style.

Males typically display longer and more pronounced dorsal filaments with brighter coloration during courtship, while females/juveniles have shorter, less elaborate fins and more subdued patterns.

They reach about 6–8 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 55 gallons. Provide a deep sandy substrate for burrowing, scattered live rock for security, and ample open swimming space, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4). A secure lid is essential since they are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of frozen mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, finely chopped seafood, and occasionally quality marine pellets, ideally offered several times a day to mimic natural feeding.
