Feather Sea Star

The Feather Sea Star (Comaster gracilis), a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its elegant, feathery arms, vibrant coloration ranging from yellows to oranges, intricate patterns, and medium size. Males typically have slightly thicker central discs and more vibrant arm tips, while females/juveniles are usually smaller with more muted colors. They reach about 6–10 inches in diameter and should be housed in aquariums of at least 100 gallons.

Provide a setup with ample live rock for attachment, a fine sandbed, crevices for hiding, and open swimming space, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4) and a secure lid, as many species are prone to climbing or “jumping.” Their diet should consist of planktonic foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and microalgae, and with proper care, this invertebrate makes a stunning and graceful addition to a reef aquarium, drawing attention with its delicate movements and striking appearance.

Several species will be import-to-order and may take anywhere from 3-10 business days to secure. Once your fish is secured, you will be notified, and the quarantine process will then begin.
