The False Shepard's Angelfish, Hybrid (Centropyge loriculus × ferrugata) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its vibrant coloration, striking patterns, and unique blend of traits from both parent species. Males typically display more intense coloration and pronounced markings, while females and juveniles are slightly more subdued but still beautifully patterned. These fish reach about 4–5 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 55 gallons. Provide a setup with a sandy substrate, plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding, and open swimming areas to allow natural behavior. Maintain stable water parameters with salinity around 1.020–1.025, temperature between 72–79°F, and pH of 8.1–8.4, along with a secure lid as these angelfish can be prone to jumping. Their diet should include mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality pellets, and algae. With proper care, the False Shepard's Angelfish, Hybrid becomes a standout and captivating addition to a marine aquarium.
