Elongate Wrasse

Elongate Wrasse (Pseudojuloides elongatus) is a graceful, reef-safe wrasse prized for its elongated body and subtle, shifting colors—males display olive-green to pinkish-orange hues with up to four rows of metallic blue spots on the upper side and wavy blue lines on the head, while females are more uniformly olive/greenish with yellow-orange irises. It reaches about 6 inches (12.6 cm) in full size. Best housed in tanks of at least 75 gallons or more, with a deep fine sand substrate for resting, abundant live rock and caves for hiding, open swimming areas, stable reef water chemistry (salinity ~1.020-1.025; temperature ~72-82°F; pH ~8.1-8.4), and a secure lid since wrasses are jumpers. Diet should be carnivorous and frequent: small crustaceans, mysis, brine shrimp, copepods, and premium marine frozen foods. Because it's somewhat delicate in aquarium settings, mature systems and careful acclimation are strongly recommended.
