Elegant Coris Wrasse

Elegant Coris Wrasse (Coris venusta) is a semi-aggressive, reef-safe-with-caution showpiece that demands attention and transforms from a striking juvenile pattern (white body with black spots and orange lines) into a mature adult awash in greens and blues with a bright yellow tail and bold facial stripes. It reaches about 7 inches in adult size. Best kept in aquariums of at least 100 gallons, with lots of live rock for hiding and exploring, deep sand or rubble substrate to allow for burrowing/resting, open space for active swimming, and a secure lid since this species can jump. Diet should be rich in meaty foods—frozen mysis, brine shrimp, small crustaceans—and plenty of high-quality marine pellets once feeding reliably.
