Earmuff Wrasse

Earmuff Wrasse (Halichoeres melasmapomus) is a rare reef-safe jewel that adds vivid character and elegance wherever you put it. It features striking dark “earmuff” patches behind the eyes, set against glowing bases of yellow, orange, lavender, and blue—especially bold in mature males—while females are more softly colored but just as beautiful. Reaches about 5-6 inches adult size. Best kept in aquariums of at least 100-125 gallons, with a deep, fine sand substrate for burying and resting, plenty of live rock for hiding and grazing, stable water conditions, and a secure lid (this fish is an escape artist). Diet should be meat-rich and varied: live or frozen mysis, brine shrimp, small crustaceans, copepods, plus quality marine pellets once it’s settled in.
