Domino Ocellaris Clownfish

The Domino Ocellaris Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris var) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe, admired for its deep black coloration accented by bold white spots and outlined fins, giving it a striking and unique appearance in aquariums.

Males typically remain smaller, less dominant, and display more active swimming behavior, while females/juveniles are larger, more dominant, and will often take charge of the pair or group. They reach about 3–4 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 20–30 gallons.

Provide live rock for grazing and hiding spots, along with ample open swimming space. A sandbed is optional, but caves or secure crevices will help them feel safe. Maintain stable water parameters with salinity around 1.020–1.025, temperature 72–79°F, and pH 8.1–8.4. A secure lid is important, as clownfish are known to occasionally jump.

Diet should consist of a varied mix including mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality pellets, flakes, and algae-based foods to ensure proper nutrition and vibrant coloration.
