Coral Sea Ventralis Anthias

The Coral Sea Ventralis Anthias (Compsanthias cf. ventralis 2) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its vivid coloration, striking pattern of orange and pink hues, medium size, and elegant swimming behavior. Males typically exhibit brighter and more intense coloration with elongated fins and a slightly larger, more streamlined body. Females/juveniles are smaller, with softer coloration and shorter fins, often showing more muted tones of orange and pink. They reach about 4–5 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 75 gallons.

Provide live rock for hiding, open swimming space, and a secure lid since many anthias species are prone to jumping. Maintain stable water parameters with salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, and pH ~8.1–8.4.

Diet should consist of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality pellets, with multiple feedings per day to support their high metabolism. With proper care, this fish makes a standout addition to any reef aquarium.
