Cinnamon Clownfish (Amphiprion melanopus) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its vibrant red-orange body, contrasting dark saddle on the back, and bold white head stripe.
Males typically remain smaller, more slender, and often submissive in a pair hierarchy, while females/juveniles are larger, more dominant, and display stronger territorial behavior.
They reach about 4–5 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons. Provide ample live rock for shelter, a sandy bottom, and anemones or coral alternatives for hosting behavior, along with open swimming space. Stable water parameters are essential (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp 72–79°F, pH 8.1–8.4), and a secure lid is recommended since clownfish can occasionally jump.
Diet should consist of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality pellets, and some algae-based foods. With proper care, this fish makes a hardy, colorful, and charismatic addition to the marine aquarium.
