Chrysurus Angelfish, Juvenile

The Chrysurus Angelfish (Pomacanthus chrysurus) is a semi-aggressive species that is not reef-safe, admired for its striking coloration and patterns. Juveniles display a blackish-brown body adorned with numerous white vertical bars, a tan face marked with irregular blue lines, and a bright yellow tail. Males typically share the same vivid markings as females and juveniles, making it difficult to distinguish sexes at a young age. They reach an adult size of about 12 inches and should be housed in aquariums of at least 220 gallons. These fish thrive in a well-established tank with ample live rock, hiding spots, and open swimming space, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4). A secure lid is recommended, as many angelfish species are prone to jumping. Their diet should include a variety of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, as well as pellets, algae, and sponge-based preparations. With proper care, the Chrysurus Angelfish makes a vibrant and standout addition to a marine aquarium.
