Chrysurus Angelfish, Adult

The Chrysurus Angelfish (Pomacanthus chrysurus) is a semi-aggressive marine species that is considered reef-safe with caution, as it may nip at corals and invertebrates. This angelfish is admired for its striking coloration, bold patterns, and unique golden tail, which make it one of the most eye-catching additions to a large marine aquarium. Males typically display more vivid coloration with bolder markings, while females and juveniles often have slightly duller tones and less defined patterns. Adults can reach up to 14 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 220 gallons to allow for proper swimming space and growth. An ideal setup includes ample live rock for grazing and hiding, a sandy substrate, and plenty of open swimming space, along with a secure lid since angelfish can occasionally jump. They thrive in stable water parameters with a salinity of 1.020–1.025, temperature between 72–79°F, and a pH of 8.1–8.4. Their diet should consist of a variety of foods, including mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality pellets, marine algae, and spirulina, to ensure proper nutrition and coloration. With the right environment and care, the Chrysurus Angelfish becomes a majestic centerpiece species in any large saltwater aquarium.
