Charlenae Anthias

The Charlenae Anthias (Pseudanthias cf. charlenae) is a peaceful to semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe, admired for its vibrant pink to reddish coloration, slender and elongated body, and elegant swimming behavior. Males typically display more intense coloration with deeper pink/red hues, slightly elongated dorsal and caudal fins, and a more pronounced overall appearance, while females/juveniles are smaller, lighter in color (soft pink to orange), and lack elongated fins. They reach about 4–5 inches and should be housed in aquariums of at least 70–90 gallons, with larger tanks recommended for groups or harems.

Provide ample live rock with caves and hiding spots, open swimming areas, and a sandbed to mimic their natural reef environment. Stable water parameters are essential (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid is necessary, as anthias are known jumpers.

Their diet should consist of frozen mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality micro pellets, offered in several small feedings throughout the day to accommodate their fast metabolism. With proper care, the Charlenae Anthias is a stunning, active, and reef-compatible species that adds life, color, and movement to marine aquariums.
