Cave Transparent Goby

The Cave Transparent Goby (Fusigobius sp.) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its delicate, nearly translucent body, subtle speckling, cryptic behavior, and ability to perch gracefully near caves and sandy ledges. This small goby adds understated elegance and natural reef activity without disturbing tankmates.

Males typically grow slightly larger, may show more distinct speckling or fin extension, and can display subtle territorial or courtship behaviors, while females and juveniles remain smaller with softer markings and less pronounced features.

They reach about 2 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 10 gallons, though larger tanks provide more stability and space for natural behaviors. Provide a fine sandbed, live rock with caves and crevices for shelter, and open sandy areas for perching and foraging. A secure lid is necessary, as gobies are known jumpers.

Maintain stable water parameters: salinity around 1.020–1.025, temperature between 72–79°F, and pH between 8.1–8.4.

Their diet should consist of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, finely chopped meaty foods, and high-quality micro pellets. Because of their small size, offering frequent small feedings ensures they get adequate nutrition.
