Cave Shrimp

The Cave Shrimp (Stenopus pyrsonotus) is a semi-aggressive invertebrate species that is generally reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking red-and-white coloration, long banded antennae, and unique cleaning behavior. Males typically display more elongated claws and slightly larger body size, while females and juveniles tend to be smaller and less robust in appearance. They reach about 2–3 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 20 gallons. A setup with plenty of live rock, caves, and hiding spots is recommended, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, and pH ~8.1–8.4). A secure lid is important since shrimp may climb and escape. Their diet should consist of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and occasionally high-quality pellets. With proper care, the Cave Shrimp makes a fascinating and visually striking addition to the aquarium, especially for hobbyists who appreciate unique and behaviorally engaging invertebrates.

Several species will be import-to-order and may take anywhere from 3-10 business days to secure. Once your fish is secured, you will be notified, and the quarantine process will then begin.
