Bursa Triggerfish (Rhinecanthus verrucosus), which is an aggressive species that is not reef-safe, admired for its striking coloration, bold black patch patterns, robust size, and unique triggerfish body shape. Males typically display more vibrant coloration and larger size, while females and juveniles are slightly smaller and less vividly colored.
They reach about 9 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 125 gallons. Provide a sandbed, live rock, ample hiding spots, and open swimming space, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid, since triggerfish are prone to jumping. Their diet should consist of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, pellets, chopped seafood, and occasional algae, and with proper care, this fish makes a standout, dynamic addition to a marine aquarium.
