Broomtail Wrasse

Broomtail Wrasse (Cheilinus lunulatus) is a very large, semi-aggressive species known for its striking coloration and dramatic “broom-like” tail. It is not reef-safe—smaller fishes, crustaceans, and delicate inverts are at risk. Males can reach about 18 inches, with females generally a bit smaller; juveniles and females show more muted tones and vertical stripes, whereas adult males display bold greens, blues, purples, and bright yellow pectoral fins and a distinctive white band near the operculum. Best kept in aquariums of at least 300 gallons with plenty of live rock for both hiding and grazing, a very secure lid to prevent jumping, and stable water conditions. Its diet must be rich in meaty fare—molluscs, crabs, shrimp, squid, and other hard-shelled invertebrates; feeding large meals occasionally, with fasting periods in between.

Several species will be import-to-order and may take anywhere from 3-10 business days to secure. Once your fish is secured, you will be notified, and the quarantine process will then begin.
