Borbonius Anthias

Borbonius Anthias (Odontanthias borbonius) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its vibrant pink to orange coloration with yellow highlights, elegant fins, medium size, and active schooling behavior. Males typically display brighter colors, more elongated dorsal and anal fins, and more pronounced fin rays, while females and juveniles are generally smaller with softer, less intense coloration. They reach about 6 to 7 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 100 gallons to accommodate their active swimming and schooling nature. Provide plenty of live rock with caves and crevices for hiding, open swimming areas, and a stable environment. Maintain stable water parameters with salinity around 1.020-1.025, temperature between 72-79°F, and pH in the range of 8.1-8.4. A secure lid is recommended since anthias are known jumpers. Their diet should consist of small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality pellets. With proper care, the Borbonius Anthias makes a colorful and dynamic addition to large marine or reef aquariums.
