Blueface Angelfish, Adult

The Blueface Angelfish, Adult (Pomacanthus xanthometopon) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking blue facial mask, golden-yellow body, bold reticulated patterns, and impressive adult size.

Males typically display brighter coloration and slightly larger body size, while females/juveniles are often more subdued in tone, with juveniles showing a distinctive vertical striped pattern before transitioning into adult colors.

They reach about 15 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 220 gallons to provide ample swimming space. Aquascaping should include ample live rock for grazing and hiding spots, open swimming space, and a secure lid since they may jump when startled.

Maintain stable water parameters: salinity 1.020–1.025, temperature 72–79°F, and pH 8.1–8.4.

Diet should consist of a variety of meaty foods (mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, chopped seafood), high-quality marine angelfish pellets, sponge-based preparations, and marine algae to ensure balanced nutrition. With proper care, this angelfish makes a stunning centerpiece species for large marine aquariums.
