Blue/Yellow Long Tentacle Anemone

The Blue/Yellow Long Tentacle Anemone (Macrodactyla doreensis), a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its vivid blue and yellow coloration, long curling tentacles, graceful swaying movement, and ability to host certain clownfish species. Males typically have slightly shorter tentacles and less intense coloration, while females and juveniles often display longer, more vibrant tentacles with brighter hues. They reach about 10–12 inches in diameter and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons. Provide a combination of a sandbed for anchoring, live rock for support, hiding spots for security, and open swimming space for tentacle movement, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4) and a secure lid since many anemones are prone to jumping. Their diet should consist of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, small pieces of meaty seafood, and specialized anemone pellets, and with proper care, this species makes a stunning and captivating addition to any reef aquarium.
