Blue Pelagic Porcupine

Blue Pelagic Porcupine Puffer (Diodon eydouxii) is a rare marine pufferfish with dramatic flair — as juveniles, they display a stunning steely blue coloration that makes them stand out in open water, though many shift toward more muted tones with maturity. Adults can grow to a considerable size and have spines (a porcupine/defense mechanism), making them a spectacular but demanding addition. They are semi-aggressive, not reef-safe (they may consume invertebrates and coral), and require a fish-only system (ideally 180+ gallons or more) with strong filtration, ample open swimming space, and very stable water conditions. Their diet must be heavily carnivorous: hard-shelled crustaceans, mollusks, chopped seafood, and other meaty fare to wear down their beak-like teeth.
