The Blue Margin Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus pylei) is a reef-safe and peaceful species that brings striking color and elegance to any aquarium. Males display a rich red to orange body with bright yellow fin accents and a purple-violet head, while females are softer with pink to orange hues. It reaches about 5 inches in maturity. Best kept in tanks of 75+ gallons, with plenty of live rock for hiding and grazing, a deep fine sandbed, stable water conditions (SG ~1.020-1.025, temp ~72-79°F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and a tight lid since it can jump. Its diet should include live or frozen foods such as mysis, brine shrimp, copepods, plus high-quality pellets once acclimated. This is an intermediate-difficulty species: water quality must be kept high, and patience is rewarded with one of the more vivid fairy wrasse displays.
