The Blue Line Triggerfish (Pseudobalistes fuscus) is a semi-aggressive species that is not reef-safe, admired for its striking blue lines against a dark body, bold patterns, robust size, and unique triggerfish behavior.
Males are typically larger with more pronounced coloration and slightly more aggressive tendencies, while females and juveniles are smaller, less intensely colored, and generally more skittish. They reach up to 16 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 150 gallons. The tank should include a sandbed, live rock, ample hiding spots, and open swimming space, with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4) and a secure lid, as they are prone to jumping. Their omnivorous diet should consist of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality pellets, chopped seafood, and occasional algae. With proper care, this species makes a standout addition to the aquarium, providing vibrant color, active behavior, and a unique personality.
