Blue Green Chromis

The Blue Green Chromis (Chromis sp.) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its vibrant blue-green coloration, schooling behavior, and active swimming style. Males typically display brighter coloration and may establish loose dominance hierarchies, while females/juveniles tend to remain slightly smaller and show more subdued colors.

They reach about 3–4 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons (larger tanks recommended for groups). Provide ample open swimming space with some live rock for shelter, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since many species are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of a variety of meaty foods (mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods), quality marine pellets, and occasional algae-based offerings. With proper care, this hardy and attractive schooling fish makes a standout addition to both reef and community marine aquariums.
