The Blue Dashed Rockskipper Blenny (Blenniella periophthalmus) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its vivid blue dashed pattern along the body, bold coloration, compact size, and active personality. This small but striking fish adds both beauty and movement to a marine aquarium.
Males typically exhibit brighter blue dashes along their sides, a slightly larger body, and more intense coloration compared to females. Females and juveniles tend to have more subdued colors and less defined markings, making males especially notable for their vibrant appearance.
They reach about 6 inches (15 cm) in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 70 gallons to allow for their active swimming and grazing habits. Providing a sandbed, abundant live rock for grazing and hiding, crevices, and open swimming space will help them feel secure and thrive.
Stable water parameters are essential for their health: salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, and pH ~8.1–8.4. Because they are known to jump, a secure lid is important for their safety.
Their diet should consist of algae, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality marine pellets or flakes, ensuring they receive adequate nutrition and maintain vibrant coloration. With proper care, the Blue Dashed Rockskipper Blenny is a captivating and lively addition to a reef or marine aquarium.

Several species will be import-to-order and may take anywhere from 3-10 business days to secure. Once your fish is secured, you will be notified, and the quarantine process will then begin.
